ilmainham (Irish Cill Mhaighneann) is a suburb of Dublin south of the River Liffey and west of the city centre, in the Dublin 8 postal district. The area is best known for the Royal Hospital, Kilmainham, contructed on the site where the Knights Templar had there priory in Dublin. It now houses the Irish Museum of Modern Art, and Kilmainham Jail, where the executions of the leaders of the Easter Rising took place. Heuston Station, one of Dublin's two main railway stations, is nearby.

Irish Museum of Modern Art, Kilmainham
I was quite disappointed by the Irish Museum of Modern Art in Kilmainham. I'm not averse to modern art. But the highlight of my visit there was a temporary exhibition of childrens' art. Apart from that, I can't think of anything in the whole gallery that made an impression on me, one way or the other.

Maybe I'm just a phillistine. The building was very impressive, of course. I just thought the gallery exhibition wasn't up to much.
